Habitude Opens in Istanbul’s Nişantaşı Neighborhood

Almost every major player in the Istanbul coffee scene has a Nişantaşı outpost now, but the upscale neighborhood on the city’s European side continues to welcome new coffee shops into its fold. In the year since I wrote a neighborhood guide for Sprudge, Nişantaşı has seen half a dozen new shops open. The latest is Habitude Artisan Patisserie & Cafe, a multi-roaster shop focusing on house-made pastries.

The interior at Habitude, like many Istanbul cafés, is cozy, with a mere dozen seats. The patio, however, almost doubles the seating capacity. The vibes here are refined and classic, with marble counters and wicker chairs that give the café a decidedly Parisian feel.

The coffee at Habitude on my first visits was roasted by Istanbul roasters Just Coffee and Troika. On my first visit I enjoyed an espresso, a surprisingly bright Brazil roasted by Troika and pulled on Habitude’s shiny, new Modbar AV. On my second visit I ordered the autodrip, a Guatemala from Just, that was smooth and balanced. In both instances, the baristas went above and beyond to make sure my friend and I felt welcome.

With its elegant bar and friendly baristas, Habitude Artisan Patisserie and Cafe is just one more reason Nişantaşı residents are spoiled for choice when it comes to coffee shops.
