New Balance and J. Crew Release Coffee-inspired Shoe

March 26, 2017 By Michael 1 Comment

My New Balance shoes are covered in coffee stains. Actually all of my shoes are covered in coffee stains. Alas, Cafiza can only do so much. But that doesn’t stop me from drooling over these limited edition New Balance 997s. The shoe is a collaboration between New Balance, J. Crew, and Counter Culture Coffee. According to J. Crew, the shoe is,

Crafted in premium suede at New Balance’s Skowhegan, Maine, factory—in a colorway inspired by the classic espresso drink—this collaboration on the iconic 997 silhouette is available in extremely limited numbers.

A limited quantity come with a custom blend of coffee roaster by Counter Culture for the project. They also poured what appears to an absolutely perfect cortado for this video. The shoe sells for $210, and is available online.

We Put the EK43 on a T Shirt and You Can Get One

If you’re like us, coffee t shirts are gradually replacing the band shirts you really liked in college. But we’re willing to bet your wardrobe is missing a compass made from everybody’s favorite grinder, the Mahlkönig EK43. This beauty was designed by Birmingham-based designer Ryan Harrison and is printed on a gray 50/50 American Apparel shirt. All of the profits are going towards funding coffee farmers on Kiva, a micro-finance organization that offers zero-interest loans to individuals who don’t have access to more conventional sources of funding. We can’t think of a more worthy candidate than those hard working farmers that make our morning cup possible. For more information just fill out our contact form with the subject line “t shirt”.

Revealing the First Coffee Compass T Shirt

January 2, 2015 By Michael 1 Comment

EK43 shirt

Been there, done that…

For a little more than two years, The Coffee Compass has been dedicated to being your guide to craft coffee. Through café reviews, brewing tutorials, and barista interviews, we’ve tried to elucidate the complexities of the special coffee industry and point you to the best cup of coffee possible. Merchandise is an inevitable part of every business venture, and we’re excited to announce we’re printing our first t shirts.

American Made

We teamed up with Birmingham-based designer and coffee lover Ryan Harrison to make a shirt based around everybody’s favorite grinder: the Mahlkönig EK43. Each shirt will be screen printed here in Louisville, Kentucky on American Apparel 50/50 blend t shirts. Fifty-percent of the proceeds from each shirt will go towards backing a coffee related project on Kiva, a nonprofit micro-financing organization that offers zero interest loans to individuals who don’t have access to traditional means of financing. A flat fee of $25 covers shipping in the United States. Please contact us about international orders.
