Etkin Launches New 2-Cup Dripper on Kickstarter

Istanbul-based coffee design firm Etkin is launching its new 2-cup pour-over dripper on Kickstarter. The campaign builds upon the success of the Etkin 8-cup Dripper, which was fully funded on Kickstarter in 2021 before being released to the general public in 2022. Etkin is co-owned by Coffee Compass cofounder Michael Butterworth.

The Etkin 2-cup Dripper’s design elevates the filter with deep ridges, allowing for a faster flow. Like the Etkin 8-cup dripper, the 2-cup dripper is made from Turkish porcelain and features a double-walled construction, allowing for easy handling and better temperature stability.

“I knew from the beginning that I wanted to make a more conventionally sized pour-over dripper,” says Butterworth, who also is an Authorized SCA Trainer. “The success of our 8-cup dripper has shown that in an age of convenience and automation, a lot of people still want to make coffee by hand.”

The Etkin 2-Cup Dripper was designed in collaboration with Istanbul design firm MODESIGN and manufactured in Kütahya, Turkey. The packaging features hand illustrations from London-based designer Cansu Merdamert.

“From ideation to prototyping and manufacturing, the Etkin 2-cup dripper was created within a 200 mile radius,” says Butterworth. “We hope to bring greater transparency to the coffee equipment supply chain. We expect traceability from our single-origin coffee— why shouldn’t our pour-over dripper be traceable as well?”

Etkin’s second Kickstarter campaign launched on April 12, 2023 and will run for 30 days. The company is seeking to raise $5000.
