San Francisco-based coffee design company Fellow has already smashed their fundraising goal for their new Ode Brew Grinder. The Kickstarter campaign more than tripled its $200,000 target in the first few days. The Ode Brew represents Fellow’s first foray into designing a consumer grinder. The company is perhaps best known for the Stagg Kettle.
The Ode Brew Grinder promises a number of interesting features. For one, its 64mm flat burrs are practically unheard of in a consumer grinder, especially at a $300 price point. The Ode Brew also has a PID-controled motor to maintain a constant grinding speed. Together, these features could produce an unparalleled grind quality at this price point.
In our experience, one of the biggest issues with consumer grinders is durability. Grinding coffee — especially light roast — is hard on a machine, and we’re curious to see how the Ode Brew holds up. That being said, there are still precious few quality-focused consumer burr grinders on the market, and we look forward to getting our hands on one.
